Surfx Technologies is a US based technology firm, specialising in the deployment of plasma dispensing systems. Due to strong growth in the semiconductor industry, it was looking to develop a
robust production-ready solution for key global clients.
Their partner, Mycronic, had developed a mature production ready framework for advanced manufacturing lines, which were ideally suited for plasma dispensing.
SoftWire Systems has been providing engineering services to Surfx Technologies for over a decade, providing development and support activities for their iconic AtomFlo systems. Having worked with Mycronic on previous projects, SoftWire Systems was the logical choice for working with both Mycronic and Surfx Technologies to deliver an integrated solution.
Surfx Technologies also asked SoftWire Systems to develop a software application that could be deployed on production lines throughout the globe. This application needed to integrate the core motion, vision and conveyor functionality, with a focus on the key plasma functionality, while providing an operator interface that was as simple as a dishwasher.
We used LabVIEW as the development platform, which provided a clear pathway for integrating the different components. SoftWire Systems developed the Cloudbreak application to fully harness the power of the Mycronic System to incorporate plasma functionality.

As of 2024, Softwire Systems was supporting Cloudbreak applications on production equipment around the globe. This solution allows Surfx Technologies and its argon plasma solutions to assist manufacturers to develop innovative products at scale.
